The founder of
College Sports Exposure, Duane Treybig, was
raised in El Campo, Texas. He played youth
baseball in the El Campo Little League
Association. At El Campo High School, he played
basketball in 8th, 9th and
10th grades. Duane ran track in the
10th, 11th and 12th
grades. He lettered two years in track.
He ran the 880 yd. dash, mile run, 2 mile run
and two mile relay. During the summer he
pitched and played outfield for the local
Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) fast pitch
softball team. Duane Also coached a 18U
CYO girls fast pitch team.
Duane attended the University of Texas at Austin in 1970.
After graduating from UT with a B.S. degree in
Chemistry, he was hired by the Dow Chemical
Company in Freeport Texas. He married Brenda
Poncik in 1976 from Needville. While working
at Dow he worked towards a Masters of Science
degree through Texas A&M and received his degree
in 1980.
Duane and
Brenda have two children. Larissa was born in
1981 and Brent was born in 1983. Duane soon
found himself coaching youth soccer, softball
and baseball.
Softball
In 1992, Duane coached the Lake
Jackson U10 Express Softball Tournament team
that won 2nd at ASA U10 State in
Nacogdoches and competed at N.I.T in Dallas
(3-2). In 1993, he coached the Lake Jackson U12
Illusions Softball Tournament team that won 5th
at ASA U12 State in Lake Jackson and competed in
the Regionals in Dallas.In 1994, he
coached the Lake Jackson Diamonds in the Lake
Jackson League (spring) Season. They finished
with a perfect 14-0 record .
The Diamonds also placed first in the Lake Jackson, Pasadena, Clute
and Alvin Tournaments. Duane was an assistant
coach during the summer with the Lake Jackson
Quest. The Lake Jackson Quest Tournament Team
won 1st at ASA U12 District in Alvin
and State in Lake Jackson. The Quest finished
2-2 at the ASA National Tournament at Greenwood,
Indiana. Duane became a certified ASA
Softball Coaching Instructor in
1995. In 1996, he was an assistant coach with
the Coastal Babes out of Angleton, Texas. In
1997 and 1998, he was an assistant coach for the
Texas Thunderbolts and in 1999 he was an
assistant coach with the Katy
Styxs. In 2000, he was
an assistant coach with the Cy-Fair Intruders
U18 Gold. He is a member of the
National
Coaches Softball Association (NCSA).
Baseball
Duane coached the
Royals in the Lake Jackson Little League from
1994 through 1996 and the Pirates in the Lake
Jackson Babe Ruth baseball league in 1997.
He umpired baseball from 1994 through 1996.
Soccer
Duane trained teams boys and
girls soccer teams in the Lake Jackson Soccer
club from 1988 to 1997. He trained the 16U
EDDOA Brazosport Advantage (Div. 1 Girls team)
in 1995 to 1997 and the I.A.L. 14U Brazos United
(Super Blue Boys team) between 1996 and 1997.
Brazos United was Eastern District Semi-Finalist
in 1996. Duane has been a soccer referee since
1990. He is a
National USYSA "C" licensed soccer coach
and a certified STYSA Coaching Instructor. He
was also an ODP
Coach and a 3 year member of the
STYSA Coaching staff.
He was tournament director of the first ever
City of Enchantment Soccer Tournament in Lake
Jackson and served as tournament director for
two additional years. Duane also served as the
Treasurer of the Brazoria Youth Soccer
Association (BYSA).
Volleyball
Duane is a member of
Lone Star Region USA
Volleyball.
College Sports Exposure
Duane started
College Sports Exposure
in the Fall of 1998. Katie Danley of the Texas
Thunderbolts was his first customer and she
signed to play softball at Alvin Community
College. |
