My name is Tiffany Scales and I played basketball for Kempner
high school. I
transferred there from Austin High for a number of reasons; basketball being
one of them. My sophomore year I was cut from the team. This past season
was my first on Varsity. I received little to no playing time, and thought
my career as a basketball player was over.
I had been struggling to find ways to finance my college costs and made some
attempts to contact a number of colleges in hopes that I could be granted an
opportunity to play. I almost gave up when everyone responded with, "Send us
a game tape."
I was introduced to AAU towards the end of the school year and joined the
Houston Hotshots team, coached by Randy Herrera. By our second tournament,
my mother had purchased a video camera and proceeded to record three games.
Our intentions were to use the footage and send copies to some schools. The
day I looked in the phone book for a video copying place changed my life
forever.
There it was in the ad, 'College Sports Exposure.' I knew right away I
needed to call. I spoke with Mr. Treybig and immediately set a date to drop
off the films. Within a week the editing was complete.
Mr. Treybig used the footage my mom recorded and added select
highlights to
the beginning of the video. He titled the necessary contact
and personal information
on the screen which helped the colleges to contact me. All of this was provided for a reasonable price.
Upon the conclusion of Mr. Treybig's services, I rushed the tapes to Houston
Baptist University, Lamar University, and the University of Arkansas at Pine
Bluff. All three schools were quick to respond.
I received my scholarship papers on Saturday the 25th of may 2002 from UAPB,
just a week before graduation!
Later
in the summer, Texas Southern University matched UAPB's scholarship
offer. I switched to Texas Southern
University.
I will be attending TSU this fall thanks to the help of Mr. Treybig.
Because of his magnificent work, my college education is paid for and I get
to continue doing what I love: Play basketball.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Scales
