April 9 , 2004 - Cy-Creek High School played Langham Creek on Thursday April 8 at 6:30 pm at
Cy-Creek High School in a District 16-5A game. Before the game I interviewed
Cy-Creek Coach Randy Kight. I asked Randy where Cy-Creek was in District. He told me 4th behind Tomball, Magnolia and Cy-Fair. He said their best
chance for play-offs was getting the 3rd spot if Cy-Fair stumbles. Randy also told me that his senior pitcher did not return and he has had to rely
on a freshman and a sophomore pitcher. He then told me that Cy-Creek has better
hitters this year than last year and this team was the best hitting team he has ever had. Cy-Creek has 6 hitters batting over 0.300. Shannon Crooks (junior) leads
off for Cy-Creek. Shannon hit a double off the top of the fence against Tomball's Amanda Pitzenberger. She ended her 16 game hitting streak in their
last game.
Randy Kight's assessment of his team's hitting ability was accurate for this game.
They had 17 team hits. The big innings were the 3rd and 6th innings. In the 3rd inning,
Jenna Biscegua singled to right center field. Shannon Crooks started a new hitting streak when she
followed with a single. Shannon plays travel ball with the Texas Peppers Gold.
Kaleigh Courville (sophomore) hit a line drive over the third baseman to load the bases.
Montana Patin then hit a triple in the gap between left and center field driving in two runs.
Montana signed in November to play softball at Texas Tech University next fall.
Jenny Matulich then hit a line drive over the right fielder's head driving in another run.
The Cy-Creek field fence is located at 230 feet. Although the Langham Creek outfielder
was playing deep, she didn't anticipated Jenny would hit a line drive behind her. Jenny Matulich
plays travel ball for the Cy-Fair Battz. The next batter grounded out to the short stop for
out No. 1. Alyssa Davis doubled. Montana Patin scored on the double to give Cy-Creek a 5-1 lead.
The next batter flied out to center field for Out No. 2. Teresa Hardison (senior) popped out to
left field for out No. 3.

In the 6th inning, Cy-Creek added 4 insurance runs to their 7-1 lead. Montana Patin burned
the right fielder for a triple. Jenny Matulich brought home Montana with a single up the middle.
Marysa Stults reached first safely on an error by the 1st baseman. Marysa plays travel ball
for the Spring-Kleim Impact 18 Carat. Alyssa Davis reached 1st base on an error by the short stop.
Bases were loaded when Lauren Scause stepped up to the plate. Lauren hit a single in the hole
between short stop and third base, driving in two runs. At this stage the score was 10-1 in
favor of Cy-Creek. Senior Teresa Hardison singled in the hole between short stop and 3rd base
to bring in Alyssa Davis. The game was stopped at this point because Cy-Creek had 10 run rule Langham Creek.
Jenny Matulich and Kaleigh Courville led the hitting assault. Both players went 3 for 4. Jenny
added a bloop single that fell in between the left fielder and short stop to the double in the 3rd
inning and the single in the 6th inning. By the time the short stop found the handle, Jenny was at 2nd base
and two runs had scored. Jenny had quite a productive night batting in the No. 4 spot; she had 4 RBI's.
Kaleigh added a single in the 1st inning and another single to the gap between left and center field
to her single in the 3rd inning.
Montana Patin, Marysa Stults, Lauren Scause and Jenna Biscegua also had additional hits. The 5 ft. tall Patin
can best be described as a power hitter. She had two triples. Marysa Stults hit a triple down the
right field line in the 2nd inning. She later scored the first run of the game. Lauren added a single
to right center field in the 5th inning to her single in the 6th inning. Lauren had a 3 RBI night.
Jenna added a single to left field in the 5th inning to her single in the third inning.
Kris Keith (freshman) pitched the complete game for Cy-Creek. She scattered 5 hits, walked none and
struck-out 5 batters.
With two out in the 2nd inning, Langham Creek loaded the bases. Amanda Siegel hit a pop fly single to center field,
Kristen Picha singled to left field and Renea Bromlay singled down the third base line. Kris Keith struck out the
next batter to get out of the jam.
Kris gave-up two back to back doubles to Becky Martinez and Libby Dennis in the 3rd inning. Libby's double burned
Montana Patin in left field, scoring Becky. Becky's score was Langham Creek's only run.
Libby Dennis started the game on the mound for Langham Creek. She was relieved in the third inning by Becky Martinez.
With the win, Cy-Creek's record improved to 15-11 for the season and 8-6 in District 16-5A. Langham Creek is 11-13 for
the season and 3-10 in District.
