September
19, 2004 - Over the past 6 Years, only a hand
full of players have run from home to
home with contact in less than 12
seconds or from home to first in less
than 2:80 seconds during a College
Sports exposure film session. College Sports
Exposure filmed Sharonda McDonald
running from home to home in less than
12 seconds. As a freshman during
her 2004 season at Texas A&M, Sharonda lead the Big
12 Conference in steals. Leina
Braxton from Big Springs, Texas ran from
home to home in 11:73 seconds and from
home to 1st in 2:70 seconds with
contact. Leina is a freshman at
Texarkana College this Fall
(2004). Jessica Valis from Shiner,
Texas and Houston Power Gold ran from
home to home in 11:74 seconds and from
home to 1st in 2:64 seconds.
The Class of 2006 is loaded with
speed.
Katelyn Bright was
clocked running from home to home in
11:91 seconds by College Sports
Exposure. Katelyn is a catcher for
Kingwood High School and Texas Eclipse
Gold coached by Ken Glass. Katelyn
also plays in the outfield. It is
not often that a catcher has enough
speed to play outfield for a Div. 1
college.
Randi Stuard ran from home
to home in 11:78 seconds at Bear Creek
Park when filmed by College Sports
Exposure. Randi lives in George
West Texas and plays short stop for
Texas
Storm coached by Ronn Dixon.
Sydney Day plays short stop for
5A Stratford High School and outfield
for Sugar Land Shock. Sydney is
the fastest play on both teams.
She runs from home to home in 11:91
seconds and from home to 1st in 2:76
seconds. These are College Sports
Exposure times; i.e. contact to contact.
Sydeny was disappointed with the home to
1st time of 2:76 seconds by College
Sports Exposure. She had recently
been timed at 2:69 seconds at Stratford.
Krystn Sendejas plays 2nd base
for Galveston Ball High School and
middle infield and outfield for 18U
Texas Storm coached by Ronn Dixon.
Krystn has been timed running from home
to 1st base in 2:75 seconds and from
home to home in 11:30 seconds.
Galveston Ball Coach Amanda Spencer
honestly believes that Krystn is one of
the top 10 high school second basemen in
the State of Texas and Krystn is only a
junior.
Courtney De La Rosa was clocked
running from home to home in 11:96
seconds when filmed at a Austin high
school field. Courtney pitches for
Cameron Yoe High School and plays short
stop for Centex Babes. Courtney is
a unique player in that she also hits
home runs. She hit 4 home runs out
of the park when College Sports Exposure
filmed her video.
Cassie Anderson was clocked in
high school running from home to home in
under 12 seconds. Cassie was
clocked running from home to home in
12:29 seconds after College Sports
Exposure filmed her pitching. She
ran from home to 1st base in 2:77
seconds. Cassie pitches and plays
outfield for M.C. Elite and for Spendora
High School.
Courtnie Ghinaudo plays
centerfield for the Humble Cobras and 5A
Brazoswood High School. Courtnie
Ghinaudo was timed running from home to
first in 2:76 seconds on contact from
the left side of the plate during her
College Sports Exposure film
session. She was timed running
from home to home in 12:62 seconds.
In the base running part of a College
Sports Exposure skill video, a player
is filmed running from home to 1st base; and home to home. College Sports Exposure usually films the player running bases at the end of the filming session after the players are tired from fielding and hitting. As a consequence, the times reported here are much slower than the personal best for these players.
Home to first time is started when the player makes contact with the ball pitched from a pitching machine and stopped when the player touches the
1st base bag. The player has a choice of bunting, dragging, slapping or hitting from either side.
Five times are measured off the film and
averaged.
A
softball skills video can be obtained of
any of these players by contacting the
player. If you need their contact
information, contact College Sports
Exposure.
