Katy Express Gets Pass Texas Eclipse 1-0 on a Pass Ball

June 12, 2004 - In a 10:00 am Looser's Bracket Game on Saturday, Kristina Tello scored on a pass ball in the 6th inning to give Katy Express a 1-0 victory over Texas Eclipse. Kristina 
led off the inning with a Texas Leaguer that dropped behind the 2nd baseman into shallow right
field. Brittany Boren then placed a sacrifice bunt down the 1st base line and beat it out
for a base hit. Haylay Petrash then laid down a sacrifice bunt down the 3rd base line. Eclipse 
3rd baseman Maranda Bishop threw to 1st to get the out. The bunt moved Kristina to 3rd base and Brittany to 2nd base. The Eclipse catcher let one of Elizabeth Fluente's pitches get by her and Kristina scored. However, time remained on the clock. Stephanie Fry drew a walk. Then Jenny Matulich drew a walk. Bases were loaded. Kimmy Lee took a pitch. The coach substituted in Heather Kight for Kimmy. Heather took a pitch. The coach then brought back in the starter, Kimmy Lee and time ran out. 

Emily Horne started the game for the Katy Express. Emily pitched 4 1/3 innings. She had 7 
strike-outs, walked two batters and gave-up one hit. In the 5th inning with runners on 3rd and
2nd base and one out, the Express brought in Corie Bram. Corie pitched out of the jam by getting two strike-outs. Corie had 3 strike-outs, and hit one batter in one 2/3 innings of work.

Texas Eclipse also used two pitchers. Hillary Dawson started the game and Elizabeth Fuentes finished the game. Together they had 6 strike-outs, gave-up 4 hits and 3 walks. College Sports Exposure radared Hillary throwing 58 mph. 

Brittany Boren led Express hitters with two singles. She hit a line drive to right field in the 1st 
inning in addition to the bunt single she had in the 6th inning. Stephanie Fry and Kimmy Lee also had singles. Stephanie Fry hit a line drive to the right center gap in the 1st innng. Kimmy's
hit was up the middle in the 2nd inning. 

Corey Race was the only Eclipse player to get a hit. She hit a line drive to the left field gap in the 5th inning.

With the win, Katy Express advanced to a 2:15 pm Saturday game against the Washington Lady Hawks at Lions Club Park.
