Houston Power Beats Tampa Florida Mustangs 1-0 in Boulder, Colorado Pool Play

June 27, 2003 - Houston Power met Tampa Florida Mustangs Blue in a 5:00 pm Friday pool game at Stazio Ball Field No. 5 in Boulder, CO. It looked like a possible rout early in the 1st inning for the Mustangs. With one out, Ashley Arcuri drew a walk. Ashley Fertic singled. Danielle Urbank followed with another single up the middle to load the bases. Houston Power Coach John Glowaz made a pitching change. He brought in Erica Bryant. Erica struck-out Devan Spence and then got Erin Brunt to ground out to third baseman Christina Sheppard. 

The game was tied 0-0 until the 5th inning. With no outs, Haley Valis singled down the 3rd
line. 2004 Outfielder, Crystal Seipel pop-up to the short stop for out No. 1. 2005 Short
Stop, Jessica Valis reached first base on a drag for a base hit. Amy Krueger then singled to
the right center gap. Haley rounded third and stopped between 3rd and home. The Tampa catcher missed the throw and Haley scored to give the Power a 1-0 lead. Tiffany Dahlquist struck-out looking a pitch at her ankles. Alex Colyer was batting and had a 2-2 count when time ran out giving Power the 1-0 win.

Elise Orange started on the mound for Houston Power. Elise allowed two hits and walked
one batter before Coach John Glowaz brought in 2002 Erica Bryant. Erica struck-out three
batters, walked none and gave-up one hit. She got Power safely out of the bases loaded 
situation in the first inning and then shut-out the Mustangs the rest of the way.

Erica had some help in the 5th inning. With one out and Devan Spence at 1st base, Meghan
Manso ripped a line drive into right field. It looked like trouble for Power. However
Crystal Seipel charge the line drive and made a diving catch for out No. 2. She quickly 
got up and threw to 1st base to complete a double play. 

Danielle Urbank pitched all 5 innings for Tampa. Danielle had 5 strike-outs and walked
no batters. She gave-up 7 hits.

Amy Krueger led the 6-Hit Power attack with two singles. Amy singled to right center in
the 3rd and 5th innings. Jessica Valis had a drag bunt single in the 5th inning. Christina
Sheppard had a double in the 2nd inning. Montana Patin hit a double in the right center gap
in the 4th inning. Haley Valis hit a single down the third base line in the 5th inning.

Danielle Urbanik lead the Mustangs hitting attack with 2 singles. A single up the middle in the 
1st inning and a single up the middle in the third inning. Ashley Fertic had the only other
hit for the Mustangs. Ashley singled in the first inning.
