Jenny Matulich Hits 0.444 in the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament

July 3, 2004 - Jennifer or Jenny Matulich is a 1st baseman for the Katy Express.  She graduates in 2005.  Katy Express played in the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament  in Boulder, Colorado held June 28 to July 4th.  Jenny finished the tournament with an outstanding 0.444 batting average in 10 trips to the plate in the pool and bracket games. The Express did not play any practice games. All of Jenny's four base hits were clean singles through the infield. She walked once. Jenny was 1 for 2 against the Richmond Diamonds. She was 0 for 2 against the Oregon Sun Supply. Against Oregon Sun Supply, she grounded out twice to the 1st baseman. Jenny singled once against the Florida Mustangs. She also hit a very good line drive to left field in her first at bat but the left fielder made an outstanding catch. Jenny singled and walked against the California Corona Angels. 

In Bracket play against the Texas Mystixxs,  Jenny had a line drive single to right field in the 2nd inning.   Jennifer also brought home a run with a fly to deep right center field in the 3rd inning.


Jenny did not strike-out any time in the tournament.  Jennifer's performance is even more remarkable when you consider that Katy Express loss 7 out of  8 games at Boulder. Even
though Express was struggling, Jenny kept positive and worked hard to find ways to help her team.
