2001- The Sugar Land Outlaws won 6 games in a row to capture the U16-A ASA State Championship held this weekend in Sugarland, Texas. With the State Championship comes an automatic berth to the U16-A ASA Nationals held this summer in Normal, Illinois. This was quite an accomplishment because the tournament comprised 30 teams from throughout Texas.
The Outlaws won the first game Friday night against the Robyco Wranglers from Victoria 15-0. Saturday morning in a 9:45 am game, they beat the Texas Taz from Bryan by a score of 1-0. They then beat Odessa Sting in a night game.
Sunday morning, the Outlaws beat the Texas Twisters from Tyler 4-0. The Outlaws short stop, Holly Ridley help the offensive attack with a home run over the fence in this game. The Outlaws then met the Texas Tornados from Waco. The Texas Tornadoes were the winners of the other half of the Winner's Bracket. The Outlaws won the game by a score of 4-3. The Texas Tornados then beat the Looser's bracket winner and played the Outlaws again. The Outlaws beat the
Tornados by a score of 9-4 in the Championship Game.
The coach of the Outlaws is Kelli Jacoby. The team comprises Jennifer Ballard, Stacey Dussetschlege, Natalie Hewett, Samantha Jacoby, Tiffany Williams, Kendyl Townsend, Ashley Ingram, Rachel Nelson, Mandy Popper, Holly Ridley, Kelli Kenne and Cheri Wood.
