Eclipse 85 Defeats Westbury Arsenal in Snicker's Cup Game

April 22, 2001 - Eclipse 85 U-16 boys met Westbury Arsenal U-16 boys at Los Creek Park in Sugar Land for a Snicker's Cup match on Sunday at 5:00 pm. Eclipse came into the game with a win (1-0) over Texas United. Westbury entered the game with a loss (1-3) to the Classic Blues.

The first half was a defensive struggle ending in a 0-0 tie. It was a half where both teams played tight defense and made good strong tackles. Eclipse got off the most crosses (7) and the most shots (10) but couldn't finish. Their attach came primarily from the right side. Justin Shepard played very well at the right fullback spot for Eclipse, stopping several attacks with good tackles. On three occasions, he controlled the tackle and made a good penetration pass that led to good Eclipse runs. On another occasion, Justin overlapped with the right mid, passed the ball off and went forward looking for a return pass. 

Nicholas Kregel and Mario Cebolao were also very busy in the Eclipse right side attack. Nicholas made some good tackles, controlled the ball and moved it up field with some wall
passes and good through passes. Mario was on the receiving end of several of the passes 
on the right side. He had a shot and a pair of crosses. On the other side of the field, Heath Villman had a pair of crosses.

Westbury had four shots and two crosses in the first half. On defense, the goalkeeper, Bradley Olitzki played an important role with six saves. Zachary Wilson was the keeper in the second half.

14 minutes into the 2nd half, Eclipse scored their first goal. Kenneth Hernia got off a shot in the penalty area that deflected off a Westbury defender into the upper left corner of the goal. Two minutes later on a corner kick, Michael McGrath kicked a great bended ball into the goal area that Michael Lehman finished.

Westbury retaliated by scoring their only goal 22 minutes into the half. Aaron Goetz scored the goal by deflecting the ball off of a Eclipse player.

Chad Akapabio-Wilson of Westbury, who played left forward and midfield in the 2nd half 
brilliant speed when he found some room to dribble the ball.

Westbury had seven shots and a corner kick in the second half. Eclipse got off nine shots and four crosses. Eclipse also took two corner kicks.
