Texas Storm is preparing to play in the 18U Gold ASA Nationals in
Marietta, Georgia which will be held
July 30 to August 5. They qualified for this National Tournament by winning first place in the ASA Gold National
Qualifier this weekend in Killeen, Texas.
Texas
Storm won their first four games in the
tournament. Storm whipped Texas
City Stars, 7-1. In the Saturday
night game, Texas Storm beat Impact Gold from
Spring-Klein, 1-0.
Brittany Faske was the winning pitcher. She was recently chosen to the Houston Chronicle Second Team
which was chosen from the Greater Houston Area.
The Cy-Fair Intruders won their
first two games. They
defeated Austin Vipers 4-2 and
Lafayette, Louisiana, 1-0.
Sunday morning, Texas Storm sent the Cy-Fair Intruders to the
losers bracket to play Impact Gold. The
Intruders beat Impact Gold who finished in 3rd place.
Cy-Fair Intruders then beat Texas Storm 1-0 in an International Tie
Breaker game. Sarah Lancor pitched an outstanding game for Storm but settled for the loss. Sarah Mardis was the winning pitcher. Sarah signed to pitch
with St. Petersburg Community College in Florida this past winter.
Texas Storm beat the Intruders in the final game 6-1. Brittany Faske got the win.
Jenni Speir got the save. Cy-Fair Intruders pitched Sarah Mardis, Whitney Heath and Ashley Kirchberg.
The Texas Storm is the 2nd greater Houston Area travel team to qualify for the 18U Gold ASA Nationals in
Marietta, Georgia. The other team is the 18U Gold Katy Cruisers.
They qualified last summer by winning the
18U Gold ASA Nationals Championship last summer.
