 Texas Thunder Shuts-out South Carolina Bandits 5-0

June 27, 2003 - At the Colorado Fireworks in Aurora, Texas Thunder met the South Carolina Bandits in a 1:45 pm Friday pool game. 

The game was tied 0-0, until the 3rd inning. Texas Thunder's Shanteal "Sam" Collard led off 
with a double. Center fielder Sabrina Harrison single in the left center gap. Amy Varner singled
to right field. Shanteal and Sabrina scored on the player to give Thunder a 2-0 lead. The next 
batter grounded out to the pitcher. Amy Varner advanced to 3rd base. Amy was called out for leaving early when the next batter was batting. The next batter struck-out to end the inning.

Thunder added 3 more insurance runs in the 4th inning. Shanna Washington reached first base on a error by the short stop. Haley Broussard flew out to 2nd base. The next batter struck-out. Margaret Patterson then hit a double to deep center, scoring Shanna. Shanteal hit a double and scored Margaret.  Sabrina Harrison single to right field and Shanteal scored on the play. The next batter struck-out to end the inning. 

Thunder had 8 hits. Sabrina Harrison and Shanteal Collard each had two hits. Sabrina singled in the left center gap in the 3rd inning and to right field in the 4th inning. Shanteal hit a double in the 3rd and 4th innings. Both batter's were 2 for 2. Margaret Patterson double to center field in the 4th inning.  Amy Varner singled to right field in the 3rd inning. Michelle Pierson and Shanna Washington each singled in the 5th inning. 

The South Carolina Bandits had one hit. Andrea Bailey hit a Texas Leaguer to the gap in right center that fell in for single in the 2nd inning. 

Kim McDonald pitched the whole game for Texas Thunder. Kim struck-out two Bandits, walked none and gave-up a single in the 2nd inning.

Sabrina Harrison helped Kim out with two great defensive plays in center field. Bandit's Amber Short hit a line drive to center field in the 3rd inning that would have fell in for any normal center fielder. Sabrina charged the line drive and then dove to make a clean catch. Ditto - same thing in the 4th inning, except a different batter. Mina Roof hit a low and hard line drive to center field. Sabrina charged the fly and dove making the catch. Sabrina is a 2003 outfielder/ 1st baseman who is still looking for a good 4 year college. She showed she is a 4 year college player in this game offensively and defensively. Call her!
