Larissa Treybig Signs with the
University of Bridgeport
Fort Bend Stephen F. Austin Lady Bulldog Larissa Treybig signed her National Letter of Intent to pitch softball for the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Larissa said she was impressed with Coach Andrea Costa on her visit. She also liked U of B's Communications program and location next to New York. Larissa received 68 % of a full scholarship. She chose U of B over scholarship offers from colleges in Alabama, Florida, Texas and New York.
In the past two seasons at Fort Bend Austin, Larissa never lost a single District 20-5A game. In 2000, Larissa made the 20-5A All-District team and the Fort Bend Herald-Coaster All-Area team as a pitcher. During the season she had four shut-outs against Stratford (3-0), Dulles (10-0) and Willowridge twice. In one of the Willowridge games, she pitched a "perfect" game. Fort Bend Austin were District Champions and Regional Semi-Finalist.
In 1999, Larissa made the Fort Bend Herald-Coaster All-Area team as a pitcher and won the Fort Bend Austin Most Improved Player (MIP) Award. She pitched two shut-outs against Friendswood (1-0) and Dulles (7-0) and had three innings of shut-out relief against Clements. Fort Bend Austin finished as District 20-5A Co-Champions with Elkins.
Larissa played in seven National Tournaments. The most memorable national tournaments were the U-10 ASA N.I.T in Dallas (1992), the U12-A ASA National Tournament in Greenwood, Indiana (1994) and the U16-A ASA National Tournament in Fresno, California (1997). Larissa's U-10 team qualified for the N.I.T. by winning 2nd place in the ASA State Tournament in Nacogdoches. Larissa was with the Quest in 1994 when they went to Indiana. The Quest qualified for the U-12 ASA National Tournament by winning ASA State held in Lake Jackson at 3:00 am against Temple. Larissa pitched in all 5 games winning 4 and losing none. At the Nationals, Larissa was 2-1. Larissa was again pitching for the Quest when they qualified for Fresno by winning the U16 ASA Hall of Fame Tournament in Oklahoma City, OK.
Larissa is the daughter of Duane and Brenda Treybig and the grand-daughter of Lawrence and Mary Treybig of Lane City and late Ervin and Alice Poncik of
Needville.
